MOMOCO
NIC BENNS is a film titles designer and creative director of MOMOCO.
After graduating from Anglia University, Cambridge, he moved to the United States to attend the California Institute of the Arts where he studied experimental animation. He worked for a few notable motion design studios before setting up Momoco in Hollywood, with partner Miki Kato. In 2000, he returned to the UK to expand the studio.
Nic has collaborated on theatrical opening sequences with directors such as Richard Curtis, Stephen Daldry, Lasse Halstrom, Kevin Spacey, Dustin Hoffman, Paul Haggis and recently Ridley Scott.
His aesthetic is cinematic and texturally layered. Film credits include Inbetweeners 2, Contraband, The Counselor, Nine, Salmon Fishing In The Yemen, The Three Musketeers, An Education, 30 Days Of Night, Alien Vs Predator and Love Actually.
TV credits include Fortitude, Ripper Street, Luther, The Musketeers, Hannibal, NBC’s Dracula and Strike Back (for which he was EMMY nominated). In 2012 he won the Outstanding Main Titles EMMY for Great Expectations.
Nic has also lectured extensively on the process of film title sequences at BAFTA, PROMAX, BFI and art schools worldwide.
In 2013 he received an honorary Doctorate of Arts from Anglia Ruskin
University.
