2013 Categories - Definitions and Entry Rules
All entries must have aired between 1st September 2012 and 31st August 2013. Unless otherwise stated, the maximum duration of any spot is 90 seconds, although we strongly recommend you enter the most effective duration, rather than the longest. Any pieces exceeding the maximum duration maybe judged up to that point.
Originated categories can feature programme clips and/or images, but the majority of material should be originated. Judges will be looking for innovation, creative excellence, strong messaging and justification for originating.
Clip-based categories can feature graphics and/or originated material, but the majority of the material should be clip-based. Judges will be looking for innovative use of programme footage, creative excellence and strong messaging.
You may enter multiple categories with the same creative, although remember, you will be judged on the criteria of that category, so we advise you to read through all categories before creating your entry shortlist.
The deadline for entries will be September 16th 2013.

01 Best Drama Promo (Originated)
Any originated promotion produced for a single drama, series or season. Single spot. Maximum duration 90”

03 Best Entertainment Promo (Originated)
Any originated promotion produced for an entertainment programme, series or season, including comedy, competitions and general entertainment formats. Single Spot. Maximum duration 90”.
04 Best Entertainment Promo (Clip-Based)
Any clip-based promotion produced for an entertainment programme, series or season, including comedy, competitions and general entertainment formats. Single Spot. Maximum duration 90”.
05 Best Reality TV Promo (Originated)
Any originated promotion produced for a reality or constructed-reality programme, series or season. Single Spot. Maximum duration 90’’
06 Best Reality (Clip-Based)

07 Best Factual Promo (Originated)

15 Best News and Current Affairs Promo

SPECIALIST CATEGORIES
16 Best Graphic Design or Animation Promo
Any promotion displaying creative excellence, where the total concept relies on Design or Animation. No programme clips allowed. Single Spot. Maximum duration 90”
17 Best Direct Response Promo
Any promotion that effectively solicits a direct response (not programme tune-in) through creative excellence and messaging. Single Spot. Maximum duration 90”
18 Best Promotion for a Website or Service
Any promotion that effectively communicates an online, interactive, or secondary services. Single Spot. Maximum duration 90”
19 Best Foreign Language
Any non-English language promotion (please supply translation or subtitles). Single Spot. Maximum duration 90”
20 Best Season or Stunt
Any on-air campaign that demonstrates creative excellence for a unique event, season or stunt. Up to 3 related examples. Maximum 90’’ per example
21 Best Long Form
Any long-form promotion or sales tape for a Television Channel, Progamme, Service or Product that effectively engages and communicates its message over an extended duration (minimum 90’’, maximum 3 minutes) submissions over 3 minutes will be judged on the first 3 minutes only
22 Best Sponsorship
Any device or devices used as part of commercial sponsorship agreement that demonstrate brand integration and creative excellence. Up to 3 related examples. Maximum 90’’ per example
23 Best Ident
Any ident or series of idents for a Television brand that demonstrates creative excellence and effectiveness. Up to 5 related examples. Maximum 30’’ per example.
24 Best Launch
Any innovative promotion produced to launch a service, channel, single programme, series or special event. Single spot. Maximum duration 90”
25 Best Poster or Outdoor
Any poster or outdoor print that displays creative excellence and effectiveness. Up to 3 related examples PDF (digital billboards can be submitted as video files)
26 Best On-Air Media Planning
Demonstrate how a campaign has been enhanced by strategic and effective on-air Media Planning (phasing, synergistic scheduling, junctions, continuity etc.) PDF campaign summary. Additional supporting video material up to 90’’
27 Most Innovative Use Of Digital
The most creative, innovate and effective use of digital or social media to support a programme or channel campaign. Entries to be submitted as a demonstration reel. Maximum duration 3 minutes

29 Best Use of Sound Design

30 Best Use of Music
Any promotion that demonstrates effective, innovative and creative use of music or composition. Single Spot. Maximum duration 90”
31 Best Use of Design
Any promotion that demonstrates excellence in the craft of design (can include minimal programme clips and/or origination) Single Spot. Maximum duration 90”
32 Best Use of Editing
Any promotion that demonstrates excellence in the field of editing. Single Spot. Maximum duration 90”
33 Best Use of Direction
Any promo that demonstrates excellence in the craft of direction. Single Spot. Maximum duration 90”
34 Best Use of Humour
Any promo that demonstrates an effective and innovative use of humour. Single spot. Maximum duration 90”
35 Something for Nothing
Any promotion that demonstrates creative excellence and strong communication, where the idea exceeds the budget. Single Spot. Maximum duration 90’’ (we don’t ask for a budget breakdown, but ask you respect the spirit of this award and keep it cheap and creative)
CAMPAIGNS
36 Best Channel Identity
The most effective and creative brand or re-brand of the year. Can include Idents, OSP, promotion elements, style guides, branding and premiums. Entries to be submitted as a demonstration reel. Maximum duration 3 minutes
37 Best Cross-Media Campaign
Any campaign which has used a minimum of 3 different media (TV/radio/print/web/experiential etc). Up to 5 related items. Maximum duration 90’’ per example (PDF files may contain more than one image as one entry), or as a demonstration reel. Maximum duration 3 minutes
38 Best On-Air Campaign – Channel Promotion
The most creative on-air campaign for a television channel or network. Up to 5 related video files. Maximum duration 90’’ per example, or as a demonstration reel. Maximum duration 3 minutes
39 Best On-Air Campaign - Programme Promotion
The most creative on-air campaign for a programme, series or season. Up to 5 related video items. Maximum duration 90’’ per example, or as a demonstration reel. Maximum duration 3 minutes.
40 Best Newcomer
An up-and-coming creative who has no more than 2 years experience, who not only demonstrates creative potential, but also embodies the Promax spirit. Up to 5 related video or PDF items. Entries should be accompanied by 100 words stating why the candidate deserves to win.
41 Channel of the Year
The single channel that in the opinion of the judges has demonstrated standout creative and marketing excellence in the last 12 months. Entries to be submitted as a demo reel of up to 3 minutes and can feature any promotional and marketing collateral and the story of why and how they’ve succeeded in the past year.
