10:30 - KEYNOTE - Liz Dolan in Red Square
Sponsored by: Sky Creative
In her stellar career Liz Dolan has worked in a number of marketing led companies. Most noticeably as C.M.O of Nike, she helped them double their turnover. Since entering the world of television, currently as EVP/CMO of Fox International she has observed in stark contrast, how few channel brands are marketing led. Helping her get to the bottom of why that is, and what we can do about it, is Charlie Mawer, Exec CD of Red Bee. With examples from both sides of the Atlantic, you’ll discover how a channels’ biggest hit can be “off-brand”, why it’s always sunny at the USA network, how marketing deserve a seat at the commissioning table & crucially how Promos can make a real impact to their brand every day.
Produced by: Mark Harrison from FOX
11:30 - COFFEE BREAK
12:00 - Campaign for a Funnier Future In Club Che
Why should all funny be in the hands of the few? We believe the wealth of the wit should be shared amongst the people. This year, be a part of a symposium featuring the finest theorists and revolutionaries from the world of comedy. Chaired by promo veteran and stand up Jake Yapp (6Music), the masterminds behind Miranda, Big Train, The Now Show and the internet sensation Misery Bear will share their policies for producing the perfect punchline. These manifestos for mirth will have the ruling classes trembling as the comedy revolution heads to Promax.
Both parties will present the case for their discipline using examples from the promo world and short form.
The parties will then come together for a group discussion about using comedy promos, reviewing this years humour category and ending in an audience Q&A.
Produced by: Kate Chedgey and Lucy Badger from Channel 5
12:00 - I Predict a Riot in Lenin Lounge
Bored, listless, disaffected - difficult to marshal and in a hundred different places at once… that’s not just the London rioters but your TV audience too!
But, if the riots taught us one thing, it’s not only that a Plasma TV is still a potent object of desire, but also the power of social media is now unrivalled, leaving the establishment struggling to catch-up.
Like the Music Industry before us, Broadcasters are in the middle of their own audience riot. Is it enough to stand back and watch like the Police – or should we all be on our Blackberry’s right now?
Join EMI and The Council for a lively roundtable session, as we ask what lessons can be learned from the launch of artists like Tinie Tempah and find out how to positively harness the emotional power of the connected mass.
Panel:
Kevin Hill – The Council
John Kearon – BrainJuicer
Emmy Lovell – EMI Music
Alex Eden-Smith – EMI Music
Produced by: Zara Warshal and Jo Gregory from EMI Production Music
